Aquaterra Celebrates World Oceans Month

In honor of World Oceans Month, Aquaterra is working with the UN to remind everyone of the major role the oceans have in everyday life.

Oceans are a major source of food and medicine and a critical part of the biosphere. The ocean covers over 70% of the planet and produces at least 50% of the planet’s oxygen.

Aquaculture has proven to provide a higher-quality protein more efficiently than chicken, beef, or pork. However, the aquaculture feed is dependent on omega-3’s, which are derived from wild fish.

As the population grows, so does our demand for food production from these natural resources. This increased demand has become impossible to scale sustainably due to rapid industry growth.

This is why we believe Aquaterra is so important. Aquaterra, from Nuseed, is the world’s first land-based source for omega-3’s specifically made for use in fish feed.

Aquaterra supports sustainable industry growth, healthier oceans, and nourished people with a higher quality omega-3 source that doesn’t demand additional farmlands or add pressure to marine resources.

What is Aquaterra Made From?

Aquaterra is derived from canola and enhanced with microalgae genes to produce long-chain fatty acids.

Aquaterra’s novel oil profile includes DHA, EPA, and ALA to increase the omega-3 content of fish feed ultimately enhancing the total omega-3’s in fillets.

How is Aquaterra Sustainable and More Effective?

Grown in rain and sunshine, canola is less resource-intensive than algal oil, which relies on industrial production.

As a land-based source for omega-3’s, Aquaterra supports the agricultural industry’s goal of reducing FFFDRo and FIFO ratios by as much as 20-40%.

Aquaterra is traceable from seed to feed, with a supply chain that it certified for responsible agricultural and stewardship practices.

Why Our Oceans Need Aquaterra

Without Aquaterra, we run the risk of damaging our oceans further with overfishing, damaging our land and ecosystems with added industrial production facilities, and unbalanced human nutrition or insufficient nutrition.

With Aquaterra, we can preserve ocean resources now while innovating fish health and welfare for the future.

The purpose of World Oceans Month is to inform the public of the impact of human actions on the ocean.

Aquaterra will continue to promote a worldwide movement for the sustainable management of the world’s oceans.
